Asheboro- Gary Lee Logsdon, 68, passed away September 16, 2018 at Randolph Hospice House. Born October 30, 1949 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of Alex Steinmetz and Dolores Nelson Steinmetz.
He served 2 tours in Vietnam as a Sentry Dog handler and was awarded a bronze star. He loved sports, especially the Penguin’s hockey and Steeler’s football teams. He played baseball and softball well into his 50's. He coached his son Mike’s soccer team. He loved the outdoors and his music. His children and grandchildren were the lights of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Dennis and David and a granddaughter, Laci. He is survived by his wife Jan, of the home, who he married October 18th, 2008, daughter, Dawn (Simon) Cogley of Ambridge, Pa; son, Michael (Angel Walter) of Pleasant Gap, PA; and their mother, Rosalie; stepson, Nick (Shannon) Wild of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Gavin and Aowyn Cogley, Jordan and Chelsea Snook, Hailey Pettine, Sierra and Kylie Wild; brother, William Steinmetz of Pittsburgh, PA; nephew, Will Steinmetz, Jr of Durham, NC; niece, Kati (Daniel) Ault, Pittsburgh, PA; and great niece, Lorelai Ault of Pittsburgh, PA.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, September 21, 2018 with a 1:00 visitation and a 2:00 service, at New Life Family Fellowship, 1354 East Allred Street, Asheboro, NC, 27203
