Asheboro- Marilyn Jean Wiegand (Becker), 85, was lifted to her heavenly home on July 3, 2018. Marilyn, born October 21, 1932, was the daughter of Leland Gerald Becker and Hazel Leonie Barber of Watertown, New York.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband; Clyde Hugo Wiegand, daughter; Darlene P Robinson, and grandson; Lee Wiegand. Marilyn is survived by her daughters; Cheryl Kelly, and Lesli (Philip) LaVare, and her sons; Bruce (Debra) and Scott Wiegand. Marilyn had eight beloved grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Surviving also is her sister; Carolyn Mace of West Palm Beach, FL.
Genealogy was Marilyn’s passion. The New England Historic Genealogical Society was one of many organizations she belonged to. She encouraged novice genealogists by sharing her vast knowledge of the subject.
During her years raising a family she participated in Eastern Star, loved raising competition African Violets, and was a skilled seamstress. Marilyn was a faithful attendee of First United Methodist Church of Asheboro.
A memorial service will be held for Marilyn on July 28, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, 224 N Fayetteville St, Asheboro, NC 27203, at 11:00am with the Reverend Lynda Ferguson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the First United Methodist Church’s food pantry and/or its children’s ministry.
