Obituary

Asheboro- William “Bill” Darrell Cole, passed away Monday, December 16, 2019, at his home. Born July 18, 1941 in Randolph County, NC, he was the son of the late, George Woodrow Cole, and Flora Jane Williams Cole.

Bill attended Farmer High School in Farmer, NC and Randolph Community College where he received a certification in small engine repair. He was an Ordained Deacon at New Beginnings Baptist Church of Asheboro, NC. Bill was employed with Gilbarco in Greensboro, NC for 23 years as a machinist. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, auto mechanics, flea market sells and was a tinkerer.

Bill is survived by his children, Sharon Fogleman (Scott) of Randleman, Judi Brightwell (Vince) of Richmond, VA, Chris Cole of the home, Lisa Cary (Quintin) of Cheverly, MD, and Greg Butler of Burlington; grandchildren, Brittany F Williams (Clint), Kaitlynne Brightwell, Kyan Brightwell, Kimberly Mason, and Krystal Mitchell (Nate); 9 great grandkids; brothers, Harold Cole (Brenda) of Asheboro, and Clayton Cole (Maria) of Asheboro, and sister, BettyAnn Cole Southerland of Jacksonville, NC. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife of 58 years, Linda Smith Cole. 

Visitation will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, December 21, 2019, at New Beginnings Baptist Church, 1409 Southmont Dr, Asheboro, NC 27205, with a service to follow immediately after at 11:00am. Services entrusted to Midstate Cremation & Funeral Service.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Hospice of Randolph County and New Beginnings Baptist Church.
