Brent Patrick Carter, 54, went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 20, 2020 at UNC Chapel Hill Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC. Brent resided in Asheboro, NC for the last 3 years of his life but always considered N. Charleston/Goose Creek area in SC as his home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Carter and Doris Holmes and brother, Mark Carter. He is survived by his son, Brandon Carter of Laurel, Maryland; daughters, Brandie Carter of Summerville SC and Treasure Dawson (Anthony) of Charleston, SC; sister, Terri Barnes (Mark) of Asheboro, NC; brothers, Stephen Carter (Belinda) of Fayetteville, NC and Donald Holmes (Wendy) of San Bernardino, CA; and grandchildren, Skylar, Amorë, Rhiyanna and Jeremiah.
Brent graduated from Bonds Wilson High School in 1984 and received a full football scholarship to Morgan State University where he graduated in 1989. While at MSU he was initiated into the Morgan State Chapter of The Alpha Iota of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity on Nov 3, 1987. After college, he worked several years at the Youth Center on the Naval Weapons Station before he found his home as Coach Carter at Goose Creek High School, where he stayed until failing health caused him to retire from working in 2016.
His Memorial Service will be July 17th, 2020 be in the N, Chas/Goose Creek, SC area with time and location to be announced at a later time. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Coach Carter's name to Goose Creek High School, Attn: Counselor Program, 1137 Red Bank Rd., Goose Creek, SC 29445
