David Smith Chriscoe

David “Chigger” Smith Chriscoe of Asheboro, NC died peacefully on May 12, 2023 at the Hospice House
of Randolph County. He was born August 25, 1948 to Winfred and Palma Lee Chriscoe. Chigger is
survived by his life partner, Geraldene Garner of Asheboro, his son, Josh Chriscoe and wife Meg Chriscoe
of Charlotte, his 3 grandsons, Matthew, Benjamin, and Andrew, and his sister, Marion Lyndon and her
husband Ed Lyndon of Asheboro. He is also survived by Geraldine’s 2 sons, Dennis and Davey Garner.
Chigger is predeceased by his parents and his brother, Edward Kennedy. Chigger was an all-conference
athlete for Ramseur High School and was a 4-year letterman in basketball, baseball and football and
earned all-conference honors in basketball and baseball. Chigger served in the US Army at Fort Jackson
in Columbia, SC. He was a plumbing and HVAC technician at Center Plumbing and Heating. He was a
Mason and a previous member of the Randolph County Shine Club. He was life-long UNC Tarheel sports
fan.
A small service for family and friends is planned on August 25, 2023 at 11am at Mid-State Funeral Home,
304 Lanier Ave, Asheboro, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family asks to make a donation to the Randolph
County Shrine Club or the Hospice House of Randolph County in honor of Chigger.
