Denton- David Edwin VonCannon, 91, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Mt. Vista Health Park. Born April 15, 1929, in Randolph County, he was the son of the late Jasper VonCannon and Beulah Cox VonCannon.
David attended Seagrove School in his youth. He was enlisted in the Army from January of 1951 until his honorable discharge in January 1953. He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church of Asheboro. David was a jack of all trades and a wonderful storyteller.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty Jo Clemons VonCannon; children, Cindy VonCannon Myers (Ken) and Rhonda Roper (Steve); grandchildren, Jacob Roper, Andrew Roper, Laura Myers Wall (Bryan) and Hannah Myers Hutchinson (Zach); great grandchildren, Emersyn Wall, Caleb Wall, and Scarlett Hutchinson as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and many special friends. David was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Edith, Howard, Grady and Leonard.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00pm, Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at New Hope Church Cemetery, 4215 New Hope Church Rd, Asheboro, NC 27205.
