Asheboro- George “Junior” Dewey Luther III, died Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. A native of Randolph County Mr. Luther was born on January 15, 1951 and was the son of the late Jewel Hurley Luther and George Dewey Luther Jr.
Mr. Luther was a truck driver for 50 years. He worked for Epes Transport the last 25 years. He had a love for the road. He loved helping others and took great pride in taking care of his family. He was a loving spouse for soon to be 50 years on December 24th. He was selfless and always put others before himself. He was an exceptional spouse, father, brother, friend, and grandfather (JuJu).
He had an amazing sense of humor. He enjoyed working in wood and grew up helping his family with Luther Brothers Sawmill and was also known as Sawmill. He took great joy in acts of service for others and his community. He always left you with a smile and better because you had known him. He was a lover of pizza and vegetables and always made sure he took food to those he loved. He took to the simple things in life that we often take for granted.
Survivors include his wife of the home, Blanche Luther; daughter, Audrey Luther of Asheboro; son, Franklin Luther of Asheboro; grandchildren, Josiah Cassidy and Jalen Luther both of Asheboro; and sisters Becky Saunders (Larry) of Asheboro and Frances Freeman (Dwight) or Troy.
A private memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 9th, 2020 at 1:00pm with Charlie Lamb, Dewayne Albright, and Pastor Alex Shelton officiating. The service will be live streamed on the South Asheboro Church of God Facebook page.
