Obituary

We sorrowfully announce the passing of John Henry Scheller, 34. He was born October 2, 1987 in Charleston, SC and died unexpectedly on May 14, 2022 at home in Randleman, NC.

He was the son of Henry R. and Marjorie L. (Vann) Scheller of Fuquay Varina, NC, brother to Andrea M. (Samuel) Scheetz and uncle to Amelia and Elijah Scheetz of Statesboro, GA. He is also survived by grandmothers Dorothy A. Scheller of Waupaca, WI, and Gloria J. Vann of Grafton, WI, and by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceding him in death were his grandfathers Henry R. Scheller Sr. and Robert W. Vann, and his godmother Jodi Nestle.

John graduated from Orchard Park High School, Orchard Park, NY where he was a varsity letter winner in track and volleyball. John attended SUNY Geneseo and SUNY Buffalo, pursuing a degree in applied physics.

John did not make friends easily, but when he did, he held them close. Among his interests were disc golf, science fiction books and movies, video gaming, chess, and other board games. He had a soft spot for animals.

John had been employed by Arauco in Biscoe and Energizer in Asheboro, for a time.  He fell victim to the diseases of alcoholism and depression. They finally took his life.

There will be a remembrance service at Harris Lake County Park, New Hill, NC on May 29.
