Marvin Eugene Morrison, age 56, departed this life at 7:20 on the morning of Sunday, August 9th, 2020, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro. He liked to be called “Marty.”
Marty was born February 7th, 1964, to the union of Larry Wayne Morrison Sr. and Alyce Jeane Woosley at Forsyth Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
He was employed as a loom weaver at the textile factory “Frank Ix” in Lexington, North Carolina, for eight years before becoming disabled due to his back.
Marty accepted Christ as his savior while in his thirties and was a member at Victory Baptist Church in Clemmons, North Carolina, where he served as a deacon for years. He later attended Fundamental Baptist Tabernacle, until unable to do so due to failing health.
Marty was united in holy matrimony with Roxanne Marie Moon, on December 21st, 1985 in Arcadia, North Carolina. Their union was blessed with three children.
In his leisure, he enjoyed taking care of his animals and bowling. He also loved spending time with his family watching movies and playing card games.
Marty was preceded in death: by his father Larry Wayne Morrison Sr.; his paternal grandparents, Euclid and Mattie Morrison; his maternal grandparents, Fred and Mable Woosley; and his uncles Olin “Bud” Morrison, and Terry Woosley.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory: his wife Roxanne; sons Jonathan, and Christopher; daughter Heather; his grandchildren Hazel and Axel; his mother Jeane Pridgen; Aunt Jennetti Chapell, and her husband Barry; uncle Charles Dale Morrison; his sister Regina Vestal; brother Larry Morrison II, and wife Crystal; brother-in-law Michael Moon; his nephew Donald Vestal, and wife Emily; nephew Joshua Vestal, and wife Allison; niece Jennifer Lanning, and husband Chris; along with two great-nieces, and four great-nephews.
A memorial service will be held Friday, August 14, 2020 at Fundamental Baptist Tabernacle, 1357 Swicegood Rd, Linwood, NC, 27299. Visitation will begin at 2:00pm with the service to follow at 3:00pm. Services entrusted to Midstate Cremation & Funeral Service.
