Mary Elizabeth Kizer Dix, 96, of Asheboro, NC, passed away, April 23, 2022 at Mount Vista Health Park in Denton N.C. She was born in Schoolfield, Virginia on October 15, 1925 to Stephen Grady and Jennie Belle Kizer.
Liz married her sweetheart, James Dix in 1946. The couple moved to Asheboro in 1948 to raise their family. They joined First Presbyterian Church where she served as Deacon, Bible Study Leader and an usher. She also volunteered in the Church Office and prepared many delicious meals for the 5B’s.
Liz was a Bookkeeper at Asheboro Country Club and became head of the Children’s Room at Asheboro Library serving from 1970-1989. She was a caring director who influenced many children to love reading.
She was one of the founding members of the Thursday Study Club where she continued her interest in books and developed a keen interest in genealogy.
In all facets of her life she showed a gentle manner and willingness to do good works.
Liz is survived by her loving son, Walt, and his wife Betty; grandchildren, Jim Dix and his wife, Kim, Aggie Dix Ingold and husband John, Grady Dix, Kim Dix Choate and husband Randy, Mark Harris; great grandchildren, Laura Ann Mathews and husband Neil, Wesley Vanhoy, Lila and Finley Ingold, Larkin and Banyan Dix; great great grandchildren, Maelyn, Henry, Zeke, and Wyatt Mathews.
Liz is preceded in death by her husband, James, of 70 years, and by her son and daughter in law, Steve and Linda Dix.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 2:00pm at First Presbyterian Church, 420 West Walker Avenue, Asheboro, NC 27203
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church or Mount Vista Health Park P.O. Box 1547, Denton NC 27239
