Nancy Scott Hogan, of Siler City, NC, went to be with Jesus on April 26, 2023, surrounded by her loving family and friends. A sweet time of prayer, singing, and many tears while holding hands in a circle around her bed was a testament to the way she was loved and how she loved others. Nancy lived a life that was focused first on her relationship with Jesus and how she could love others well because of Him. She was a dedicated daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend. Having helped take care of others when they were ill or shut in, and just to celebrate others in good times, she set an example in how to serve selflessly, graciously, and with great joy as she visited, laughed, shared stories, and cooked amazing dishes and desserts. She poured herself into her husband, children, and grandchildren as she modeled what a compassionate, praying woman looks like. She was even known to become a little more adventurous as she aged, going on many bus trips and riding jet skis with her husband, Arnold. Nancy was an active member of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church, NC. She worked for many years at A.J. Schneierson, Kellwood/Glendale Hosiery, and Southern Supreme Fruitcake Company.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Arnold; daughter, Lisa Johnson; son, Ronnie Johnson and wife Elizabeth; grandchildren, Austin Johnson and wife Sarah, Anna Johnson, Allie Johnson; sisters, Nellie Haith, Lessie Straughn, Libby Glass and husband Hurley; brother, Jim Scott and wife Faye; sister-in-law, Wanda Johnson; many nephews, nieces, and cousins who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lois Scott; brother, Cleo Scott; stepdaughter, Paula Caudle and husband Dane. She will be incredibly missed, but there is great joy in heaven over a life well-lived.
There will be a celebration of life on Monday, May 1, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church. Family visitation will take place at 1:00 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made either to Hickory Grove United Methodist Church, 10068 Silk Hope Liberty Rd., Siler City, NC 27344, or directly to the family, who will send all monies to the team of caregivers who cared for Nancy in her last days.
